78th Assembly Race-Cancer, Backstabbing & Outsiders!!!

From Left: Ricky Martinez, State Committeeman 78th AD, Mr Anthony Rivieccio, NWB Dems President
Congressman Jose' Serrano & Kenny Agosto, District Leader 80th AD

If you notice anything about our 25 yr old friend Ricky, its that he has not been 100% well. In case you do not know, he has cancer.

Some have asked Ricky, since last year, to step down from his State Committee ship and he has constantly said that he will not and try to do his best to represent Mr Jose Rivera, The Current Assemblyman,  when he can not be at neighborhood events.

To Mr Martinez Credit, we know firsthand, he has tried his best to make as many as possible.

Over the last 6 months, Mr Martinez was scheduled to run with Mr Jose Rivera AGAIN on the same 2012 Democratic Party Ticket,  as in 2010 , but Mr Martinez refused at the Bronx Puerto Rican Day Parade.

it was widely speculated at that time that with re-districting JUST taken place and Councilman Joel Rivera (his son) just being added into the Assembly District, that Jose will step down, in 2013, and give the seat to his son.

While many news reporters, including Robert Press of The Bronx News, continue to report that story, we can say first hand, that we encouraged Mr Martinez to speak with Assemblyman Rivera, firsthand, about this-AND YES, FIRSTHAND, MR MARTINEZ Confirmed that NO DECISION WAS MADE ON THIS MATTER. Nevertheless, Mr Martinez decided to run for the Assembly Seat AGAINST Mr Rivera!

When Mr Martinez approached NWB Democrats for assistance in petitions our first reaction was mixed. Then Mr Martinez stated, "I need to run for this seat. I always wanted to run for this seat. This decision is between me & my GOD".

WE DID NOT ARGUE-WE TOOK THE PETITION JOB AND NOW RICKY AWAITS THE DECISION BY THE COURTS.

We can state that Ricky brought in over 2200 Signatures total (we assisted in 1200)

Sadly, however, Ricky has decided in shutting down campaigning. Some believe that his health has taken a recent turn for the worse. Campaign Manager Richard Soto mentioned being recently in "chemo". OUTSIDER , Mr Press, also Vice Chair of The Committee of 100 Democrats, has suggested to Ricky to "challenge" Mr Rivera petitions.

And WOW, The argument is interesting.

Mr Press & Mr Soto have stated that Mr Martinez has asked Mr Rivera to be taken off his petition because of the NEW competitive nature of the race. A you will see by the picture below: Ricky IS ON Assemblyman Rivera's petition.
Was it an oversight?
Does it make the petitions invalid?
Can Jose just take Ricky off?
Did Bronx County set up "Assemblyman Rivera"?

We know with wonderful Bronx reporters that we have on hand we will not comment as they start to write up "As The Bronx Turns" soap opera reviews (Mr Press is underneath)

But our short opinion: Were not election law experts. Obviously they were changed, as we see Joel WAS PUT on The ballot, as State Committeeman, after Ricky's conversation with the Assemblyman.

Now, I think the real question is: was it County's mistake or Jose's trusty Asst, Jasmine? Does Patrick Jenkins (County) or Jasmine deserve a big hit in the *tussy* if this error was made on their watch-YES_ but we think this minor error should not invalidate the petition.

LET THE PROCESS OF VALIDATING THE PETITIONS & CAMPAIGNING MOVE FORWARD!!!
